Fikayo Tomori is being linked with a return to the Premier League with several clubs apparently interested in exploring a deal as early as January.
Tomori has been with Milan since the second half of the 2020-21 season which he spent on loan from Chelsea, then converting it into a permanent move. He was one of the stars of the 2021-22 Scudetto win, yet he has struggled to consistently reach those same highs in terms of performance level.
According to the paper edition of the Sunday Mirror (via Football London), several unnamed clubs in the Premier League are keen on making an attempt to sign Tomori in the winter. Not only that, but the 26-year-old would be open to returning to England if the opportunity was right.
Newcastle and West Ham were linked during the summer but Tomori ultimately remained with Milan and hoped to earn back a spot as an undroppable starter under the new head coach Paulo Fonseca. However, the rollercoaster performances have continued, just like for the whole department.
A move back to the Premier League might provide a boost for his England ambitions, given he has only earned two caps over the last two years but there has been a change in head coach.
“I think my dream in life might sound a bit cliche, but I don’t want to have any regrets. I want to be able to say at the end of it, I did everything I could, allowed myself to be myself. I allowed myself to do I wanted to do in the right way,” he told OneFootball previously.
“And I think, you know, at the end of that, if I win a million trophies or if I just have the Scudetto, in myself, I can say I did everything I needed to do, I’m content in what I’ve done.
“Then, of course, in the same breath, a dream is to win the Champions League. A dream is to win the World Cup, win Scudetto again, win every trophy possible that I can with Milan as I’m here.”
We should send him to Man U to get Zirkzee in return…
Ugh, no.
Zirkzee is the Prince that turned into a frog.
And you don’t want to be the one kissing him to see if he turns back into a Prince, or if he really was just a frog all along.
Wouldn’t mind selling him but then we need to get another cb. Who you gonna get in January? Or do we continue with 3 and try make terracciano a cb?
We already got left leg Maguire version. Now you want to sell only good CB that Milan have 😄😄😄
Good cb.. you’re hilarious. Tomori is a chicken
I agree with you. Tomori is the best Centre back at Milan now. This Fonseca will destabilise everything before that he met working.
Part ways with Fonseca since before it is too late
“Tomori is the best Centre back at Milan now.”
Only one word needed: Gabbia.
Tomori is not a player that AC Milan to place at the back and you expect that club to win the scudetto
Bijol (Udinese), Comuzzo (Fiorentina) or Coppola (Verona). Comuzzo is the least likely given how well Fio are doing and that he’s an academy product, but I think Bijol can get done for 20M and Coppola for 10M. Bijol would be the more proven/experienced option, while Coppola would be the more future potential Italian option. Bijol would compete for a starting spot straight away, while Coppola would be the no. 3 or 4 CB at first.
In January? No way.
Like I said, I think Bijol or Coppola are possible, Comuzzo probably not. Verona sold half their starting lineup last January. They WILL sell for the right price. Udinese too, albeit their price will be a little more premium.
I so like the idea of coppola, even this summer but sitting on the bench at Milan isn’t gonna get him developed.
I don’t think udine would sell bijol tho. Not in the winter.
Problem is: Ac Milan 20 million limit incoming transfer are not paid off in terms of big sporting results.
Still, Tomori is best Ac central back and he was paid 35 million. Milan should invest 40 million per players, year by year, and buy 2 strong players, each summer transfer.
It is OK to sell specifically for huge amount, but cheap players can’t bring results.
This guy is disaster… Sell him as soon as possible
How is he a disaster can you play better than him
We dont have a coach we only have a gateman
First of all, this could be a rumor. Don’t take everything you read from a journalist as the truth.
But let’s assume it is true, for the sake of the argument.
I would say good riddance if only I were confident that management would spend significant money in January to purchase a suitable replacement; or rather, an upgrade.
Given how cheap the management is, maybe we’ll lose Tomori but then will get an even worse player to replace him. The last three players they signed for the defensive department were Emerson Royal, Pavlovic, and Terracciano. That’s not very encouraging.
So, beware of what you want. It’s clear that we are bad with Tomori, but we may get even worse without him, if his replacement is a downgrade rather than an upgrade.
We got rid of decent Kalulu to purchase mediocre Emerson. Can we actually trust the management? I don’t.
On point
Terracciano was always a wildcard for the compliance list. Nothing more.
Is always a joke Italian team uses English defender~ I been waiting him to get out for long
If possible RLC and Tammy as well
you are exactly right!
Tomori has certainly regressed since the Scudetto season. A lot of his mistakes were covered up by Kessié’s coverage and work rate. He has not improved since.
I don’t think the rumors are true – this is a random story line. But even if he were to be in the pipeline, we don’t have any decent options to replace him with currently and no good CB’s at available mid season.
Back when I was following Chelsea (because Pulisic was there), I remember Tomori getting sold to Milan, and some Chelsea fans were disappointed because of his obvious potential for greatness, but there was no doubt that Tomori had serious issues with being inconsistent as well as a strong propensity for making wild forays trying to make defensive stops.
I remember watching some of his early highlights with Milan on Youtube, and at the time, the Milan fans and the press were just gushing over him about how great he was.
What I saw on the highlight reel was the same wild, inconsistent youth, rushing forward to make plays, sometimes.
I dunno, he really hasn’t gotten any better or worse, or different. I think everybody in Milan and Italy have finally discovered what should have been obvious in the beginning.
Name other curent 2 CBs that is better than Tomori
Gabbia has been the most consistent of the Milan CBs.
Thiaw has played better than Tomori so far.
Gabbia, thiaw, pavlovic.
Oh look. I named three.
Thiaw has barely started to become better than Tomori this season. Granted, he was better than him in 2022/23, but since then he became mister bad tackles and red cards.
Pavlovic ? Really ?
So is tomori. Mister no tackles and not being there when it matters.
Pavlovic is a cb machine. He’s still adapting to serie A tho.
Od kada je KJER otišao sve se u obrani srušilo !! Dat Kalulua u Juve je čista glupost i neznanje naših skauta koji moraju dobit nogu za sve greške koje su napravili
Tomori is a good guy – easy to root for. But sadly we need to upgrade .
I’d sell Tomori , Loftus and send Tammy back. We don’t need these average English boys who never get close to making England squad in our team .
We missed the Buongiorno train but I’d get Tonali , Raspadori(loan) and a CB like Kiwior who has Serie an experience and can cover left back. Also good for squad lists these guys
Scudetto winner – check.
Club and fans want him sold – check.
Another water is wet and sky is blue in SempreMilan comment section huh 🤣
I totally agree we missed Boungiorno who is turning out to be a rock . He was perfect being Italian, young and talented. His purchase price was not out of Redbirds league but they want to stick to the 20m price range that is hugely limiting to our club.
They have done great deals with Reijnders, Pulisic and Fofana but a. Top quality CB , RB, DM and CF are missing.
Despite some inconsistencies, currently Tomori is one of Milan best CB along with Gabbia.
Pavlovic is mediocre af and Thiaw has potential but he’s a lot more inconsistent than Tomori.
So selling Tomori is a bad idea.
But i’m not surprise when some brainless commenters in here saying d*mb s*it just sell Tomori and good riddance.
He really isn’t the best..he’s the worst. every site with football ratings has him in 4th place. Sofascore 4 example. Gabbia the best, followed by pavlovic, thiaw and then tomori. Amd the other sites are similar in gabbia being the best (highest rated) and tomori the worst (lowest rated)
Dudes a log. And you sell logs while you can get
something for them.
Milan fans are horrible, one minute you’re the best, the next seconds you’re a sh!t player, no patience, no regard to few season performances, from this to tomori and maybe tomorrow it with be pavlovic or Gabbia. A lot of kids with emotional breakdown expressing their feelings in the name of Milan fan.
Tomori was never the best. He had a run of good games every now and then but consistency? Nope. Anyone with have a brain knew 3 years ago the dude reached his peak and won’t get any better..he in fact has regressed season after season.
