Tomori previews Chelsea return and is asked if he will celebrate if he scores

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori is looking forward to going back and seeing some of his old team-mates at Chelsea, who he believes are a ‘great team’.

Tomori was at Chelsea for over a decade as he came through the youth teams and was a graduate of the famous Cobham academy, establishing himself as a first team starter after loan spells in the second tier in England.

However, in January of last year he decided to try a new experience in Italy having by then fallen out of favour under Frank Lampard, and he made an initial loan move to Milan that became permanent six months later. Now, he is one of the best defenders in the league and an immovable starter.

Tomori was interviewed by SportMediaset on the eve of the match against Chelsea and was asked about his emotions heading into the game given the extra meaning that it will carry for him, along with Olivier Giroud too. MilanNews relayed his comments.

On the game: “Chelsea have a point but they are strong and they are stronger than the one point they have collected. The game will be difficult and they have strong players. But we are strong too, obviously I hope we can win.”

On Chelsea: “They are a great team, strong, with good players. We are focused on our game and we know that if we play at our level we can deliver a good performance and win the game.”

On his return to London: “I am excited, I am happy to return to Stamford Bridge to see familiar faces. I want to provide a good performance to help the team and bring the 3 points home: this is what I want to do.”

On whether he will celebrate if he scores: “We’ll see.”
