GdS: Tonali’s injury not as bad as feared – when he will return and how Pioli will manage

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan can breathe a sigh of relief as Sandro Tonali’s injury is not likely to make his miss more than one game, according to a report.

Tonali hobbled off the field during Milan’s friendly win over Vicenza on Saturday evening and went straight down the tunnel with many fearing a strain or even a tear of his muscle, but La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) report that the exams he underwent yesterday fortunately excluded anything serious.

Tonali will only have to stay on the sidelines for a few days, so while he will not be there against Udinese he will be available for the next match at Atalanta. This is certainly good news for Pioli who was afraid of losing one of his pillars for a month or more.

Pioli is also thinking about tactical solutions and namely who to pick alongside Ismael Bennacer, who appeared in excellent form in the last summer friendlies. The paper stats that the most likely solution currently is playing Rade Krunic there, a player the Milan coach trusts very much.
