Tuttosport: Atalanta playmaker re-emerges as a potential low-cost option for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

The name of Josip Ilicic is back in fashion for the AC Milan management as a potential option for the attacking department, a report claims.

Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori, Sandro Tonali, Olivier Giroud, Fode Ballo-Touré and Brahim Diaz have already arrived this summer, showing that the Rossoneri are very much willing to strengthen the squad.

However, there is still a big question mark about the man who will come in and occupy the attacking midfield role, or at least alternate it with Brahim Diaz. A number of targets have been linked such as Nikola Vlasic and Hakim Ziyech, but there is nothing close to completion.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) talks about the search to replace Calhanoglu as a player who can act as the attacking midfielder in Pioli’s 4-2-3-1. In Maldini and Massara’s notebook there are several profiles, but the name of Josip Ilicic – who has long been linked with the Rossoneri – appears to be making a comeback.

  1. Ilicic is good but i still have my doubts if he will perform in Milan as the anticipation is so high. I prefer we go for a younger and stronger option.
