Tuttosport: Boban’s departure from Milan could result in messy legal battle

By Oliver Fisher -

The relationship between AC Milan and Zvonimir Boban could end on a sourer note than first imagined, according to a report.

The Rossoneri appear to be in turmoil at the moment. Multiple reports are claiming that Boban is set to depart after he spoke out regarding CEO Ivan Gazidis’ decision to go behind the backs of the management and agree a deal with Ralf Rangnick for next season.

According to what Tuttosport are reporting on Wednesday though (via MilanLive), it does not appear to be heading towards a straightforward parting of ways.

The paper claims that until there is an agreement regarding severance pay or until a letter of dismissal for just cause arrives, the Rossoneri CFO will remain in place.

In fact Boban, who did not receive any notification regarding suspension of his activities, was at Milanello on Tuesday with Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. As usual, and they followed the training from the sidelines. There was no speech to the players, but only a meeting with Stefano Pioli.

The separation though is now near for Boban and if there is no easy way to mutually end the relationship, it is very likely that we will see a legal battle take place where – given the interview in question – the Croatian is unlikely to pull any punches.
