Tuttosport: Cairo makes Buongiorno declaration after Milan’s €15m-plus-player bid

By Oliver Fisher -

The fact that AC Milan are pursuing Alessandro Buongiorno has been well documented, but Torino president Urbano Cairo has raised a wall again.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) relays the words of Cairo who was asked once again about the possibility that Buongiorno could saw the Granata for the Rossoneri in the final fortnight of the window.

“I said it last week at the end of the League Assembly and I can only repeat it: he is not for sale. In August, when he expressed his intention to stay with us instead of going to Atalanta, I told him: ‘You are and will be very important to us’. Now I repeat the same thing even more firmly,” he said.

The newspaper added that the offer presented by Milan was €15m plus Lorenzo Colombo as a counterpart and they even expressed a willingness to raise the cash sum to €20m, but that is not deemed enough.

Furthermore, Torino are four points from the Europa League places and six from the Champions League spots, so they do not want to weaken the team with such big targets in mind.

In the summer things could be different, but for now both Torino and Buongiorno have no intention of going their separate ways, also because Perr Schuurs will be out until the end of the season.

As it stands, if Tuttosport are to be believed, Milan will have to evaluate one of the alternative targets that they have on their list.

  1. we dont even need him.with simic’s form and the fact thiaw will be fit soon, also tomori and with gabbia’s emergence too i see no need for panic buy.also theo can play cb with teracciono available to cover lb.we are perfectly covered at the back.leave d team as it is

    1. And Kjaer and Pellegrino have returned, with Kalulu to be back with Tchiaw and Tomori.
Absolutely no need for a new CB.
We do need additional MF if Pobega is about to leave.

    2. Thiaw has been subpar throughout this season prior to his injury tbh. He basically cost us the inter match with the first two goals, for example. I think in a fully fit squad he should be third after tomori and hopefully a top notch cb that we bring in. Not sure Bourgiriono is this guy though, but at least he’s Italian

  2. He is young Italian defender who just capped by the national team. If the price is right, I would welcome him in a heart beat. Kjaer is strong and reliable, but he can’t play 2 games in a week. With busy fixtures coming in February and March, another defender is needed. Imagine if one of Kjaer or Gabbia got injured, who replaced them? Theo? I love Theo, but I keep him in the left where he usually posses danger to our opponents.

  3. Costacurta is pushing for the kid too, and TBF from what I saw of him for the Azzuri he’s done pretty well. We shouldn’t skip on opportunities like this in the same way we skipped out on Bremer.
