Tuttosport: Calabria to miss at least two Milan matches with injury – the details

By Euan Burns -

Davide Calabria is set to miss at least two AC Milan matches with the injury that he picked up against Napoli in the Serie A clash on Sunday night.

As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Pianeta Milan), the starting right back for the Rossoneri will be absent for the matches against Rennes in the Europa League and Monza in Serie A, so Stefano Pioli has to come up with other ideas.

There are going to be further evaluations on his muscle injury next week to see whether any more matches have to be added to that list, but his injury is the 34th picked up by Milan players this season, and the 23rd of a muscular nature.

To add further misery, Simon Kjaer also has an injury and is not expected to be fit enough to start against Rennes on Thursday.

That means Theo Hernandez will have to move back to centre-back alongside Matteo Gabbia, with Alessandro Florenzi replacing Calabria at right-back. Filippo Terracciano will likely start at left-back for the first time.

Malick Thiaw is not far away from returning now which will settle the situation, but Monza seems the earliest that he will be involved given his long spell out.

  1. Calabria has played A LOT. He needs to take it easy now, rest even further beyond those two games. He should take as much time as he needs, a month or two… a year.
