Tuttosport: Chelsea’s exorbitant €35m demands holding up midfielder’s Milan move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are trying to accelerate their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko but keep hitting the same obstacle, a report claims.

One of the priorities for the management appears to be to strengthen the midfield, as Pioli will continue with a 4-2-3-1 but alternatives to Kessie and Bennacer are needed.

The name of Bakayoko keeps being mentioned, a player who left the Rossoneri a year ago after a successful loan spell under Gennaro Gattuso in 2018-19.

Both Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia have recently claimed that Bakayoko is a ‘concrete’ target for Milan this summer, and Tuttosport (via MilanNews) have now provided an update.

They claim that the 25-year-old is the first choice target for the Rossoneri midfield and that the negotiation could come to life after August.

Bakayoko wants to return, Chelsea want to sell and Milan would welcome him back. A salary has even been agreed with the player at around €3-3.5m net per year plus bonuses.

Chelsea will have to lower their demands though, as they have slapped a €35m asking price on the former Monaco man.
