Tuttosport: Giroud and Ibrahimovic can co-exist as Pioli experiment proves successful

Olivier Giroud is starting to become a protagonist for AC Milan and the season hasn’t even started yet. Stefano Pioli tested a new formation last night and it seems the Frenchman will be able to co-exist with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

As highlighted by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), after the lack of goals against Valencia and Real Madrid, Pioli switched to a 4-4-2 formation. Ante Rebic played alongside Olivier Giroud and it was a gamble that provided excellent results.

Once Ibrahimovic is back, the manager could decide to start him and Giroud up front, which would certainly cause some issues for the opponents. The Swede often drops down and this should make the switch from 4-2-3-1 to 4-4-2 more seamless.

In short, it shouldn’t be a problem for the strikers to play together, as was proved by the experiment that Pioli carried out last night. Sure, Ante Rebic moves more than Ibrahimovic, but the first signs were indeed promising.
