Theo Hernandez may be one of the best left-backs in the world and a vital player for AC Milan but there is one clear area in which he still needs to improve.
As reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), Hernandez is the player with the most yellow cards so far this season in Serie A.
He picked up his fifth in seven games against Genoa on Saturday and that is why he is going to be suspended for the massive game against Juventus when the international break comes to an end.
This is a serious blow to Milan because there is no real natural replacement for Hernandez in the team so Pioli is expected to move Alessandro Florenzi into that role.
Hernandez makes many unnecessary fouls and is known to protest a little too much to the referees, which leads to an accumulation of yellow cards that lead to situations like this.

He is having a very slow start to the season. Also, cannot control himself during games. He is needlessly
getting yellow cards for protesting and arguing with both players and referees.
He is doing good job. Referee’s can destroy your game with bad decision. Pushing them is always good
very true
What about the fact that we went into ANOTHER season without a real backup for him? A 17 year old kid is not a serious backup, he will play some minutes but that is it.
Barcelona are playing a 16 year old kid…
Which one? And how often? We are talking about Rooney level of talent, not random dudes. Be serious.
Once we have that level of talent ok, Camarda could be the one to get minutes next season because he has been showing that he is 2-3 years ahead of everyone. Bartesaghi isn’t there just because you want him to be.
Serie A and La Liga has different level of physical contact.
Barcelona can get away with constantly playing Kids, because the environment there is more forgiving to weaker players (physically). And even with that, they get young players like Ansu Fati and Dembele that constantly injured because of being overplayed…
I believe Theo is more dangerous in a 4231 formation that he has been playing since his arrival at Milan than 433.
I believe this current formation is not bringing ou the best of Theo Hernandez. My opinion though, the formation is not letting him move forward and assist or score goals unlike his famous 4231 formation.
Yeah, except for the 5-1 drubbing by Pioli kryptonite Inzaghi were also not letting in many goals. That was the whole point of switching to 4-3-3. Defensive solidity. It’s working. We are 7-0-1. Theo is a defender. His first duty is to defend, not score 10 goals per season. For the purpose of scoring goals we brought in 4 attackers in the summer.
Not good for a Deputy captain. He should be controlling his teammates and not lead the ill discipline chart. And when the timing is off, we end up not having him for the big games. Certainly an area that he needs to work on.
He’s overused (he has seen the MOST minutes on the field of any Milan player) and probably mentally exhausted. No excuses of course as a player of his caliber needs to keep his head on his shoulders. Most of his yellows were really dumb, like lapses in concentration.
But this needs to be addressed.
This is what I have been saying all these while, Theo Harnedez complains too much and has bad attitude towards referees. That nonsense must stop!
