AC Milan are not alone in taking an interest in Hellas Verona defender Matteo Lovate, according to a report.

Tuesday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) reported that the 20-year-old centre-back has ended up in crosshairs of the Rossoneri management.

The paper added that there has been first contracts between Milan and the management of Hellas Verona to scope out a potential €15m deal, with Paolo Maldini and co. still determined to bolster the defensive depth available to head coach Stefano Pioli given only two centre-backs are fit at present.

According to Tuttosport – as cited by Calciomercato.com – Milan are not the only big club in Italy who have taken note of the centre-back’s exploits.

In fact, Juventus are also watching Lovato closely after he particularly impressive during Sunday night’s 1-1 draw against the Bianconeri at the Allianz Stadium. He has played in all five of his team’s Serie A fixtures so far this season.
