Tuttosport: Krunic’s performance justifies Pioli’s decision to trust him again

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli chose to rely on utility man Rade Krunic for last night’s crucial game against Red Bull Salzburg, and the decision paid off.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports, Brahim Diaz or Charles De Ketelaere might have been more natural interpreters of the playmaker role but Pioli decided last night to put both the Spaniard and the Belgian on the bench and to trust Krunic with the aim of bringing more balance to the middle of the field.

The former Empoli man responded with a hard working performance and also scored the goal that effectively sealed the the win as his header made it 2-0 and from there the Rossoneri began to dominate and scored two more.

Among the main qualities of Krunic is his great ability to enter the area without the ball and to cause panic with his positioning, as seen with his goal. When there is a need to give a bit more physicality to the Rossoneri midfield, Pioli often chooses Krunic.

Even in the final part of last season, in which Milan were fighting for the Scudetto, the coach relied on the Bosnian a lot who has now become a real wild card and knows he has the trust of the coach.

  1. Krunic balances midfield . Last night we were playing 3-5-2 formation , with theo and rebic far to the sides. Krunic did a great defensive job in the middle, on top or the goal. CDK and Brahim can’t defend.

  2. How does Pobega start over him? I don’t understand that guy is trash Krunic is solid. There’s no reason Krunic shouldn’t have been playing over Pobega against Torino
