Tuttosport: Leao has two objectives after disappointing season – Milan expect more

By Oliver Fisher -

The injury of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has given a great chance to Rafael Leao, who has two goals for the future in mind.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) notes, the Portugal U20 international has the objective of leading the line for Milan in the short terms after a disappointing season so far, but in the medium term he wants to become a permanent fixture in the starting XI.

If he does well, Leao will earn a leading role for next season and will mean Milan only shop for one striker instead of two. The first name on the list is Luka Jovic of Real Madrid, but Myron Boadu of AZ Alkmaar is also a profile appreciated by the club’s leadership.

Milan invested a substantial amount to prise Leao from Lille and therefore the expectations towards the Portuguese are rightly quite high.

If he were to continue struggling between now and the official end of the season then reflections would be necessary because – even if he is very young – Milan can no longer make mistakes in the attacking department.
