Tuttosport: Loftus-Cheek returns but will not start vs. Udinese – Pioli’s plan

By Oliver Fisher -

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has a very positive start to life at AC Milan following his summer move from Chelsea but his momentum was halted by a troubling injury, and the team really missed him.

As this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports, the absence of Loftus-Cheek was felt by the Rossoneri, so much so that they have won only one match out of five (that against Genoa) since he has been missing.

However, the former Chelsea player is ready to return as yesterday he trained with the rest of the squad meaning he will be called up by Stefano Pioli for tomorrow night’s game against Udinese at San Siro.

Despite this, he is not expected to start and instead the plan for his midfielder is quite simple: he will play a part of the game tomorrow evening to get some minutes in his legs and recover a bit of match rhythm, then he will start in the Champions League match at San Siro against PSG.

Who else will form the midfield? One of Yacine Adli and Rade Krunic will be at the base while there is a battle between Tijjani Reijnders and Tommaso Pobega for the left mezzala role. The only one sure of a place on the pitch from the first minute is Yunus Musah.
