Mike Maignan’s World Cup dream is not dead yet as the goalkeeper still hopes to travel with the France squad, a report claims.
As Stefano Pioli confirmed on Friday, Milan will get Maignan back only in January 2023 after a long break in Serie A and Champions League action due to the World Cup in Qatar scheduled for November and December.

After having recovered from an injury to the medial twin of the left calf, the former Lille man suffered a different calf problem which means that his 2022 for Milan is over, and it has put his availability for the World Cup in doubt.
However, as revealed by L’Équipe (via PianetaMilan), Maignan will do everything he can along with the medical staff of the French national team to recover in time. From today Maignan will be in France to start recovering, and the prognosis varies from one month (four weeks) to a month and a half (45 days).
If it were the former then there is a chance that Maignan could be called up by Didier Deschamps, but if it were the latter than he would be forced to miss the World Cup.

TBH, I hope he can’t make it to the WC. Too big of a risk for Milan to once again rush into the action too early.
I want to see him between the stick for France… I want to see many Milan players playing the World Cup…
They all deserve it…
Sure they deserve it. And some people would deserve to be there while they’re not selected. But stilll.. Call me selfish but I’d prefer them to stay “at home” and stay safe. We need all of them for the 20th scudetto.
