Tuttosport: Maldini looking to close deal for defender in the coming days as €20m price drops

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan director Paolo Maldini is looking to close the signing of Mohamed Simakan in the coming days, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive) notes how Milan offered €12m plus €3m bonuses to land the 20-year-old in the summer window and while Maldini and Massara could have increased their offer towards the €20m requested, they decided to postpone the operation to the January 2021 transfer market.

Now, Strasbourg need to sell in order to raise cash and settle the accounts, so the player could leave for a lower price than the €20m set in recent months. The Rossoneri management plans to accelerate to be able to conclude the deal as soon as possible, to beat any possible competition.

The paper adds that in the first days of 2021 Milan could move to close. the deal, with Simakan the first target because Schalke 04 continue to ask for more than €20m for Ozan Kabak, an estimate considered excessive.

In addition, Milan also hope to offload at least one between Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte, both out of Stefano Pioli’s plans.
