Tuttosport: Milan and Chelsea €8-10m apart on midfielder deal but there is optimism

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Chelsea are continuing to negotiate over the transfer of midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to a report.

Thursday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive) notes how there has been an agreement in place with the player for weeks on the basis of a €3million net salary plus bonuses.

However, there is still distance between Milan and Chelsea regarding the amount of the option to buy. The Rossoneri intend to pay around €20-22million to make his deal permanent but the Blues want the option to be €30m.

Milan are optimistic about the success of the operation, but an effort by the two clubs is needed to get to the white smoke.

The former Monaco midfielder strongly wants to return and is not part of Frank Lampard’s plans. Chelsea are aware of the player’s will, but nevertheless want to try and maximise revenue given their own summer spree and the fact they paid €40m for Bakayoko three years ago.

Bakayoko has a contract expiring in June 2022, so the London club must pay attention to that too.
