Tuttosport: Milan and Ibrahimovic to continue together – the details of his extension

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is determined to continue his playing career and he wants to do so with AC Milan, according to a report.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) recalls how Ibrahimovic, a few days after winning the Scudetto, decided to have an operation on his knee to undergo the reconstruction of his cruciate ligament but he did so with a view to getting back on the field.

While that return will not come until January 2023 providing everything goes to plan, the Swede will only miss three months when taking into account that in November and December there will be the World Cup.

The talks between Ibrahimovic and Milan are constant and a meeting with technical director Paolo Maldini and the sporting director Frederic Massara is also expected shortly to define the details of the extension for another year.

It will obviously be at very different figures compared to the current ones as the salary will have a low fixed part of around €2m net but there will be a series of bonuses related to both personal targets (appearances and goals in particular) and team objectives.

However, the paper adds that his relationship with Milan may not end even in 2023 as a managerial role is already ready for Ibra if he were to retire next year, perhaps alongside Maldini and Massara.
