Tuttosport: Milan boss Pioli ready to put faith in Matteo Gabbia once again

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is ready to put his trust in young centre-back Matteo Gabbia once again this weekend, a report claims.

The 20-year-old seized his unexpected opportunities against Torino and Fiorentina, and given the current injury crisis that Pioli is juggling he could be set for yet another chance to impress.

As Tuttosport reports on Tuesday (via MilanLive), Gabbia is in pole position to start Sunday’s game against Genoa at the moment over Mateo Musacchio. The latter is burdened by calf problems and will be suspended if he receives another yellow card, but above all Gabbia has shown more in a game and a half.

The Primavera talent managed to keep Andrea Belotti quiet in the 1-0 win over Torino last Monday night, and he also kept both Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic at bay in Saturday’s draw with Fiorentina.

Everyone was happy with his performance it seems, including and especially the coaching staff, who saw the personality and reading of the game that he can offer.

Moreover, Simon Kjaer and Leo Duarte are out injured and will not be available for the game against the Grifone, the report concludes.
