Tuttosport: Milan confident of having winger back vs. Cagliari but midfielder may have to wait

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli looks set to have Alexis Saelemaekers back for the trip to Cagliari, a report claims, but not Ismael Bennacer.

Pioli has had a number of selection issues to deal with in recent weeks as the aforementioned duo have been missing with muscle injuries while Zlatan Ibrahimovic has just returned and both Ante Rebic and Rade Krunic are out with Coronavirus.

According to Tuttosport this morning (via MilanNews), Pioli is confident to that he will have Saelemakers back for next Monday’s trip to face Cagliari in Sardinia, a game which – if Milan win – will mean they are top at the halfway point of the season no matter what the result in the 19th round against Atalanta.

The Belgian sustained a muscle problem in the last match of 2020 against Lazio, while it appears the recovery of Ismael Bennacer for the Cagliari game is difficult, since he has been out since 13 December due to an injury to his right hamstring.
