Tuttosport: Milan could make late-August move for attacker who cost Chelsea €40m

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not given up on signing Hakim Ziyech and could wait a month to launch a concrete pursuit, according to a report.

It is now no secret that Milan are looking for a playmaker, or a player who can alternate with Brahim Diaz and act behind the striker in Pioli’s 4-2-3-1 system after losing Hakan Calhanoglu on a free transfer to rivals Inter.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports, a flashback for Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech cannot be ruled out, but it will be discussed in late August rather than now because directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara believe this is the kind of mercato where late opportunities will arise.

It must be remembered that Chelsea paid Ajax €40m potentially rising to €44m to sign Ziyech (via Wikipedia), meaning that they are unlikely to give up on such an expensive player after just one season. Carlo Pellegatti also reported yesterday that he is Milan’s dream target however, so something is cooking.
