Tuttosport: Milan defender with multiple loan options may not be replaced

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan defender Matteo Gabbia has got plenty of options to leave the club on loan this summer and he may not even be replaced, a report claims.

As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Italian defender is not short of suitors and he could be playing his football elsewhere next season.

He was a peripheral figure for the Rossoneri and whilst no specific teams are named, there is plenty of interest in his services from elsewhere, likely in Serie A.

If he leaves, Milan are unlikely to enter the market for a replacement as they have four centre-backs in Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thaiw and Simon Kjaer. In a system that uses two central defenders, that is a manageable but risky number.

Stefano Pioli may feel he can dip into the academy were there to be some sort of injury crisis in that area of the squad.

  1. Gabbia should stay as a homegrown italian CB. Since Kalulu can cover RB (he is clearly better as CB but still a decent RB) 5 CBs is completely fine.

    1. I’m sure you don’t watch our matches or follow this team properly. Kjaer is the experience we have in defense that our midfield is lacking. Without Kjaer our defence is almost shiit.

      1. Yeah, we all saw that against Inter. He was spectacular. He is behind Thiaw already. He played little this and last season, so what you wrote is 😂😂😂😂😂😂. He should be kept to share his experience and knowledge to young players, good 4th choice.

        1. Kjaer was excellent this season. The best defender. Ho got injured and he is approaching the end of his career because of the age. If we didn’t had Kjaer last season we wouldn’t reach semifinals.

        2. Aaaand once again Martin shows his complete lack of understanding of game.

Kjaer was the most reliable CB last season and you think it was a coincidence that Milan’s dreadful January started to turn around AFTER Kjaer was reintroduced to the starting 11 again?

Sure, Kjaer isn’t the fastest nor the youngest. Still kept one of the best strikers in the world (Kane) completely in his pocket in UCL.

  2. At this rate we will have 0 Italians, it’s OK we will replace with some unknown from the french 2nd division, can’t wait. Seems home grown is a bad thing at Milan ??
