Tuttosport: Milan drift eight points behind Napoli – Pioli ‘not satisfied’ after Cremonese draw

AC Milan were unable to break the deadlock against Cremonese last night as they were held to a 0-0 draw which left Stefano Pioli with some regrets.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) talks about a ‘sudden and unexpected slowdown’ last night against a Cremonese side who are yet to win a game this season, and despite having 16 shots the Rossoneri were unable to get their noses in front.

The 0-0 draw left a lot of disappointment in the entire Rossoneri environment especially because the gap to leaders Napoli has increased up to 8 points, which is very difficult to overcome even if there are only 14 games gone.

Stefano Pioli’s regret about yesterday’s draw is obviously high, explained in the post-match: “We could have done more, me in the first place. We had a decent first half and a second half that wasn’t up to par. to create a volume of attacking situations that we had to create to be more dangerous. They closed up, but we had to do more.”

Pioli tried to shake up the team in the second half with the entries of Kalulu, Leao and De Ketelaere off the bench, but unfortunately they were of little use: “In the second half we lost fluidity and clarity. We won a few offensive duels. We didn’t do it tonight. We worked well in recovering the ball and we lacked movement and quality in the play.”

With this draw and Napoli’s victory against Empoli, the gap between the two teams has increased and is now 8 points.

“Eight points away from Napoli is a lot, we don’t like the table. We didn’t want this gap. We have to think about winning against Fiorentina on Sunday. We must congratulate them, but we must do something more,” he said.
