Tuttosport: Milan full-back set to net pay rise as agreement over new deal moves closer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are closing in on an agreement with defender Davide Calabria over a new deal which would see him net a pay rise, a report claims.

Calabria’s resurgence since lockdown earlier last year has been well documented as the Rossoneri full-back shook off what seemed like an inevitable summer sale after a difficult period to seize the starting spot and become one of the best full-backs Italy has.

As reported in today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), negotiations are ongoing between Milan and Calabria regarding the renewal of the full-back’s contract, which expires on 30 June 2022.

Both the player and the club aim to reach a definitive agreement soon, one which could be found on the basis of a salary of €2million net per season.

Based on other reports, that would see him almost double his current salary but given his improvement on the pitch, it would be hard to argue against it.
