AC Milan could sign a centre-back from Spain to replace Matteo Gabbia as he has admirers in Serie A, according to a report.
This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it) reports that the management are focusing more on the midfield and attack at the moment, but they are keeping an eye on centre-back options.
It seems that Facundo Gonzalez is on their list too. The Uruguayan central defender is 20 years of age and has an Italian passport, which means he would not take up a non-EU spot.
The paper claims that Milan are expected to officially ask for information about the central defender of Valencia Mestella in the next few days, which is their development squad that play in the Spanish second tier.
Gonzalez’s arrival would be preparatory to replacing Matteo Gabbia numerically, who is destined to leave Milan this summer and is attracting interest from the newly-promoted duo Genoa and Frosinone.
He played 17 games for Valencia’s B-team last season and was a part of the Uruguayan side that won the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.
