Tuttosport: Milan player ratings for Lazio loss – most players criticised after horror show

By Oliver Fisher -

It was another night to forget for AC Milan as they were beaten 4-0 by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, heaping further misery on their start to 2023.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport has their player ratings for the game, starting with Ciprian Tatarusanu who was deserving of a 5 for his performance, while Davide Calabria and Pierre Kalulu got a 4.5 and Sergino Dest received a 4.

Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali both got a 5 as they were pretty overrun in the midfield, and Junior Messias got a 4.5 after what was a forgettable night for him on the right wing.

Brahim Diaz received a 5, as did Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud to complete the attack, plus the head coach Stefano Pioli. In terms of substitutes, Alexis Saelemaekers scored a 5, Simon Kjaer got the same as did Origi, and Charles De Ketelaere was given a score of 5.5.

  1. 5 is too much for Tata. I think a 3 would’ve been more fitting. Not even my goalkeeper in division 7 would let that ball before the panalty get to the attacker.

  2. Bennacer is the only one I’d give higher than a three and honestly that’s a stretch. How him and Tonali have the same rating is perplexing. Tuttosport needs to set better standards. No player on a team that preformed as badly as Milan did is not deserving of any praise or credit for their “effort.”
As an Italian I’m becoming very concerned with how much denial there is about how bad of shape calcio is in. And these ratings add to the delusions. 5 is average right? Time and time again Italian media describes these clearly subpar performances as average especially if it’s an Italian player. Are there no standards anymore?
