AC Milan were unable to keep up their 100% start at home this season as they were beaten 2-1 by Napoli at San Siro last night.
This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) looks at the best and worst players on the field for the Rossoneri last night, starting with the top performer for Milan against Napoli was Theo Hernandez. He embarked on several of his darting runs on the left wing and provided the assist for Olivier Giroud’s equaliser.
A 6.5 was given to Davide Calabria and for the goal scorer Giroud, with 6 awarded to Mike Maignan, Pierre Kalulu, Ismael Bennacer, Sandro Tonali, Junior Messias, Rade Krunic and Brahim Diaz.
Half a mark less went to Simon Kjaer, Alexis Saelemaerkers and Charles De Ketelaere. Two players in the defensive department stood out above all for the wrong reasons, as Sergino Dest and Fikayo Tomori – respectively guilty of the first and second goal for Napoli – got a 5.

Tomori’s mistakes have been disappointing but he will learn from them. Same with Dest. Let’s not put all the blame on the defense when most of our attackers can’t convert their chances.
but tomori was very solid with kjaer clean sheet v sassuolo and also with napoli i think both kalulu and tomori together play higher the reason both fail. Kalulu is going to be insane for rb he attacks very well but calabria is also doing good since hes been criticized.
We lost to Napoli after outplaying them. Our attack is not clinical. Unless Origi gives us better options, we need a clinical center forward n a serious right winger.
I thought Pioli would bring in Kalulu for Krunic and switch to a back three. Then push Theo further upfield. That would also mean that Dest plays upfield and support the midfield.
The team got used to play on the wings since we didn’t have a reliable number 10 last season. Now that we have one, Tonali n Bennacer need to practice involving De Keteleare more in their play. We need to be dangerous on all fronts, right, center n left. It’s dangerous that almost all our goals have come from the left.
Can’t see what all the criticism is about ..I thought Giroud had an outstanding game ,yes perhaps he should have done better with one of his chances he had ,but he had a shot hit the bar and also created lots of space for those around ..His hold up play brilliant and he scored again ..He will score I believe around 20 goals this season in total ..now that’s not a bad return ..it was defensive errors that cost us the match we were the better team ..I thought Thea hernadaz also had an excellent game ..I watched the match …Olivier Giroud was excellent throughout..
The Italian defence Is by and large extremely difficult to score against .so let’s not get too down ,and pick ourselves up …We will finnish higher than Napoli in the league…We of course welcome leao back ..We have a great team ,it’s our first defeat for 22 games .
We can win the scuddeto again this season .
