Tuttosport: Two Milan players on verge of leaving but two more have no offers so far

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are focused on selling players right now and whilst two are on the verge of departing, another two have got no offers for their services at this stage, a report claims.

As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), Devis Vasquez and Charles De Ketelaere are both expected to have their loan moves confirmed very soon.

Vasquez is going to join Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship whilst De Ketelaere is expected to say yes to Atalanta’s loan proposal which has already been agreed with Milan.

Whilst there is concrete interest in the likes of Rade Krunic, Junior Messias, Fode Ballo-Toure and Yacine Adli, Marko Lazetic and Mattia Caldara are not rousing any interest at this stage.

This is a blow for Milan as they are two players that had no tangible role in the first-team last season, so they would not even need to be replaced from a depth perspective.

  1. Caldaras salary is the most painful thing I’ve ever seen and the fact he’s had it for 5 years is unbelievable. Prime fassobelli move.

    1. No question about his salary but the deal was orchestrated by leonardo swapping bonucci back to juventus for caldara,

      1. It is obvious that in those transfers Milan was involved because of Juventus transfer gain politics. Milan swap for Bonucci and Higuain on loan, but in return must pay Caladara almost 40 million.
Caldara salary is 4 million gross, but he already was on loans from Milan.
If management can find 1 club and split his salary, that would be fine job, and from next season he is free agent.

        1. if we can find someone paying half his salary it could be the way to get it done but it could also be to agree to terminate his contract so he could sign a longer contract and then get paid more than he is due to get with us as he isnt getting any younger either.

    2. I’m no Fassone or Mirabelli fan in the slightest. They made so many horrible moves. But Caldada was one of the few I was a bit excited about. How injuries literally destroyed a once promising defender. It’s a bit of a sad story.

  2. I don’t like the fact that this management aren’t patient with the players Charles just left Belgium for the first time in his life, obviously he’s going to take a while to adapt. That’s the only aspect about them I’m not happy about

  3. If we get Calafiori (who can play LCB) and keep Caldara (who at least started for relegation sides) we don’t need to get a CB in place of Gabbia and can maybe use Simic in that role from next summer on if he gets some minutes on loan.

That’s imo the best we can make out of a bad situation.

  4. I remember when Caldara was the original Bastoni or Scalvini, ie Young promising Italian CB from the Atalanta production line. Goes to show that potential doesn’t always translate to being realised, maybe partly due his many injuries.

In any case we are paying for that expensive mistake, I wonder if that’s what scares the management from making high fee/high wage signings, or even Italian starlets? Saying all that I think Scalvini will become like Bastoni a stalwart of the Azzuri side.

What fee did we sign Lazetic for? Hes still v young. Surely his wages are low enough we could loan him out and hope he has a better time than last year’s stint in the Austrian league.
