AC Milan’s usually watertight defence was breached three times by Inter last night during their cup semi-final second leg defeat.
Tuttosport (via MilanPosts) have published their player ratings for the game and they start by giving head coach Stefano Pioli a score of 5.5 out of 10 for his management of the game while his opposite number got an 8.
Mike Maignan was picked out as the man of the match for Milan with a score of 6, while Pierre Kalulu got a 4.5 and was the worst player. Davide Calabria (5), Fikayo Tomori (5) and Theo Hernandez (5.5) complete the defence.
The double pivot of Ismael Bennacer (5.5) and Sandro Tonali (5) struggled to get much control in the game but grew in confidence before the break. Alexis Saelemaekers (5.5) and Rafael Leao (6) both tried to make things happen on the wing but couldn’t score despite having fierce shots on target.
Franck Kessie got a 5 for failing to limit Brozovic’s influence on the game and Olivier Giroud got the same score for not having much of a grip on the game in general. Brahim Diaz (6) was bright off the bench.

Another abysmal performance who most fans and coaching will try to mask with a refereeing mistake. Even if that goal counted I didn’t have much hope they’ll score another one. This team doesn’t create clear goal scoring chances.
With ownership change wouldn’t mind a coaching change as well . Pioli has reached his limits. Other teams have figured him out and he hasn’t changed anything
With the squad he has available to him he is doing a fantastic job.
And if you watched the game you would have seen that we had more chances than them but just didn’t finish them off with the best player on the pitch for Inter being Handanovic.
Also, if the goal doesn’t get disallowed this would be a very different conversation. We would have had the momentum and the game would have turned in our favour.
I do not care what sport you play, two major things remain true of winning, being unpredictable, and two options of scoring,if one does not work use the other option. (A caveat to this is that it matters not what the score is as long as you one more than the opponent) Up until the last few games it has been totally the same broken record for our offense, header into Giroud, Kessie at the 10, Kessie’s best position is the double pivot with Bennacer, try Tonali at the 10, he is sucessful on defense because he does not get pushed off the ball and he distributes the ball as well or better than anyone else on the team, strong and great vision.
