Tuttosport: Milan squad to reconvene – latest on injured players with Kjaer close to return

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan squad will meet at Milanello in the next few hours to resume training after the very short Christmas break, according to a report.

As Tuttosport reports (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri intend start preparing the first match of 2021 against Benevento, and Stefano Pioli is hoping to welcome back Simon Kjaer for the trip south to face Filippo Inzaghi’s Giallorossi side.

The other injured players in Ismael Bennacer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Matteo Gabbia will have to wait a little longer to be available, because the medical staff do not want to take any risks and therefore recovery times will not be rushed to avoid any relapses.

Kjaer is therefore the only one who has a chance of playing against Benevento as he is in a good condition and has continued to work even during the Christmas holidays.

It will be understood in the next few days whether the Danish defender – who has been out since December 3 when he sustained his injury against Celtic – will be available for the trip or whether instead his return will be on 6 January at San Siro against Juventus.
