Tuttosport: Milan targeting an Italian centre-back to complete the department

Having already made eight summer signings, the AC Milan management are at the point of fine tuning the squad available to Stefano Pioli.

After the numerous signings in midfield and in attack such as Tijjani Reijnders, Yunus Musah, Samuel Chukwueze and Noah Okafor, there has not yet been an investment made on a defender which could be a surprise given the struggles last season.

According to Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) the management are looking for a reliable centre-back given Matteo Gabbia’s recent loan to Villarreal. The Rossoneri would like to complete the rearguard, while waiting to understand the fate of Mattia Caldara.

It is not easy to identify the adequate and suitable profile that falls within the economic and technical parameters, but the mission at the moment is to sign an Italian defender.

There is a very specific reason for this and it is related to the regulations for the registration of the squad list, particularly for the Champions League, which requires a certain amount of homegrown players.

  1. Call me a lunatic but the way Brighton plays with not extremely high quality player is so much more advanced than how Milan plays in possession and thats down to the coach. I really hope we can play good football this season because we have so much unused potential

    1. Pioli is idealess.. just a motivational speaker thats all.. players their own on the pitch, no coordinated planned trained football. Needs a better coach.

  2. To think this was the one position Italy never had to struggle with till now. Can’t think of anyone beyond Scalvini. And he’s too expensive at this point for us.

But this story got me thinking, the focus for CB has shifted from Esteve (French), and the Norwich lad (English) , to preferred Italian. Kalulu is starting the preseason fixtures so far at RB. Does that mean Florenzi will most likely be moved on ?
