Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic remains Milan’s number one defensive target but his high asking price has forced the management to look for alternatives.
That is according to Tuttosport on Monday (via MilanNews) who reiterate the Rossoneri’s desire to sign a young centre-back who can rotate with captain Alessio Romagnoli and/or the experienced Simon Kjaer.
Milenkovic is the first name on the wish list, but La Viola are continuing to ask for €40m to let the 22-year-old Serbia international leave, an amount that is considered very high by Paolo Maldini and his colleagues.
Therefore, Milan are continuing to monitor alternatives to Milenkovic, including Kristoffer Ajer of Celtic and Wesley Fofana of Saint-Etienne.
Both have been repeatedly linked with a move to the San Siro already over the last few weeks, but Leicester have also been credited with concrete interest in Ajer, as they are coached by former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.
