Tuttosport: Milan’s preseason plans outlined including date to report and latest on friendlies

By Oliver Fisher -

Even though it feels like the 2020-21 campaign just ended, some details have begun to emerge regarding the program for preseason.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), the Milan squad will meet on either July 8 or 9 for the resumption athletic preparation. Players who are recovering from injuries (such as Mattia Caldara and Zlatan Ibrahimovic) and those who have not taken part in the European Championships will be expected to report.

For those who did play for their national teams however a few more days of rest will be granted. Pioli’s Milan are already thinking about how to best prepare and there will be no International Champions Cup this year, cancelled due to the pandemic, so friendlies will take place both domestically and Europe. There is the possibility that Milan play two games in the same European city, but against different opponents.

The territories of Puglia and Sardinia are being studied as potential venues for friendlies within Italy. In any case, the calendar of friendlies will be drawn up in the coming weeks. The preseason period will officially close on 15 August, since the following weekend will be the first round of Serie A.
