AC Milan should seal the signing of Alvaro Morata today but the management do not consider him to be enough and they are working on another striker signing, a report claims.
According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Morata will undergo his medical today and sign a four-year contract plus another year option at €5.5m net per season. Paulo Fonseca will thus have a new striker, but the Portuguese wants another.
The Milan directors are continuing discussions for Niclas Füllkrug of Borussia Dortmund and Tammy Abraham pf Roma. The German could push to leave after the arrival of Serhou Guirassy, who had specialist checks on his knee that ruled out surgery and so the deal has been unblocked again.
With his arrival in Dortmund, Füllkrug risks losing his starting position and therefore could evaluate the possibility of leaving. The contacts between Milan and the German’s agents have been more than positive so far and therefore it is a path to keep an eye on very carefully.
In addition to him, Geoffrey Moncada and his team are continuing talks for Abraham. Fonseca likes the player a lot and Tammy would reunite with his great friend Fikayo Tomori at Milanello, but a lot will depend on Roma’s demands which have started at €25m.
Nicklas Fullkrug is excellent player – Late Bloomer, impactful off the bench but he is already 31. I can’t see him join us to be deputy of Morata when he is mentioned wanted to leave Dortmund because he don’t want to be deputy for Guirassy…
And his salary is around 5m per year so it’s unlikely the reason is economic too, as Milan won’t offer him more than that.
So maybe he just want to try different experience abroad before his retirement?

which is less than 3m net pay so literally same as current Maignan, he isnt a high earner
What a mess is this mercato again. The management was reportedly waiting for the end of the Euro to close Fofana, they had two months to speak with Monaco and now they’re going for the discount. Morata as Mr. X… Now they’re looking at some rejects from Roma or Dortmund for another striker when they extended Jovic, have Okafor and obviously hope to give Camarda some opportunities. Nonsense as usual. Probably the worse management for any European top club right now.
Yeah, should have brought in Mbappe, Rabiot, Nico Williams, Vini & Kante. A disaster. And talk about EMBARRASSING, right?

Perhaps a middle ground where we continued our previous policy of buying top class young talent with potential (Theo, Leao, Tonali, Bennacer, Tomori, etc)

Better to buy 1 good player to raise the quality of the squad than buy 2 average players.
At this point I’d rather see Okafor given a proper chance as a striker, he is our best hope

Fulkrug is as good as Zirkzee, if not better, regardless of his age. If the management can get him, that’s good competition for the No.9 position. Milan’s willingness to pay Zirkzee’s release clause shows a lot of intent. €15m for an agent, is a lot of money. Even Man utd could not pay that much. Arsenal, and others, who were interested in him, pulled back when they realized that the agent was not bulging. Zirkzee was a surprise for me; and losing him, is no big deal.
Milan got the captain of Spain, the EUo winners for the less money then the commission to Zirkzee and his agent (5 to Zirkzee and 10 to Kia). Now they can buy either Fullkrug or Abraham (for like 20-25 mil) as well and still have 17 million left to put in the Fofana and Pavlovic deals to lock them down.
How many would seriously preferr just Zirkzee over Morata + Fullkrug or Abraham + leftover money?
This will give the squad better depth, and not to forget, give Fonseca the players he want. He said to management he preferr Morata and Abraham over Zirkzee. And Fullkrug is the same profile as Abraham.
But sure management should listen to whiny never happy forum fans over their new coach right?
