Tuttosport: Motta, Rose or Gallardo – Milan could turn to alternatives after Conceicao delay

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have discovered that they must wait longer if they want to land Sergio Conceicao and that is why other names might now come back into fashion, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), one name can be crossed off Milan’s list of candidates because Lille boss Paulo Fonseca is expected to join Marseille when his contract expires.

Conceiçao of Porto remains among the possibilities and yesterday there was the long-awaited face-to-face meeting with André Villas-Boas at the training centre, but from what emerge sthere was no talk of his future.

Instead, the plan was made to talk about his future after the Portuguese Cup final against Sporting CP which will be played on Sunday 26 May, which is obviously not good news for Milan who want to get planning as soon as possible.

Thiago Motta remains ‘in the background’ for the Rossoneri. The Bologna coach, who has been strongly linked with Juventus in the event of Massimiliano Allegri’s replacement, is a profile that Milan like a lot.

Antonio Conte – despite the desire of the fans – is not in the management’s plans. Other names that include Marco Rose of RB Leipzig and Marcelo Gallardo , who won everything with River Plate and now coaches Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.

  1. Can we not atleast go ahead with the personal talks with Conceicao. If he’s so interested to join us finish the personal talks and then we go in after 26 May.

  2. All the bollocks and lies from this so called journalists trying to sell bs.I wonder why no one is mentioning Xavi Alonso! He is going to be the next Milan coach or soon enough.Mark these words!

  3. Gasperini should be our go to man. Even Pep Guardiola respects his team. He has a lot of Seria A experience, forget the blip with inter. He an take us places. The last foreign coach to win in Seria A was Mourinho in 2010, that’s a long time ago. Conceicio looks interesting but is a gamble. I’d rather a Gasperini than him. My fear is we may not get either of them at the end of the day as Gasperini is so far not our list and Conceicio may not arrive

  4. Apart from Conceicao, Rose is another serious candidate. Motta can work out but he is still unproven coach. Making it work in a mid table club in one season when everything went their way is one thing, but it’s an open question if he can take a step up. At this stage Milan needs more guarantees, rather than gambing on the coach.

  5. At the moment, it is a shame to deal with the coaching question while the championships last. No one will announce until the end who will succeed Pioli. And they won’t announce if Conceicao ends up leaving Porto. These will not be announced until the final matches.

    1. This. Most of these coaches, including our current coach, are still employed. Unless the next manager is a free agent, everyone needs to finish their season before anything official can happen. It would be unprofessional and poor form otherwise.
