Tuttosport: Pioli’s Milan for 2020-21 – the recipe for a top four finish

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli’s 2020-21 AC Milan side will restart from some of the same certainties that ended last season so well, a report claims.

Sunday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) notes how the club are still waiting for a response from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and are yet to make a signing for the senior squad, but the alarm bells have not started ringing just yet because so many pieces are already ‘in place’.

The team ended the season with nine wins from their last 12 Serie A games, with no defeats in that stretch, and Pioli will once again rely on his 4-2-3-1 system which brought balance and ultimately big results.

Milan also established a quicker pace in the development of their attacking play, and that should not be forgotten as the restlessness among the fan base starts to grow.

Pioli will also restart from eight players who guarantee quality: namely Gianluigi Donnarumma, Theo Hernandez, the Kjaer-Romagnoli pairing, Ismael Bennacer, Franck Kessie, Ante Rebic and Hakan Calhanoglu, while waiting, of course, for Ibrahimovic.
