Regardless of what happens in tonight’s game against Atalanta, it seems as though Stefano Pioli’s position as head coach is not in question.
Milan know that a win against their kryptonite Atalanta would be enough to guarantee a spot in the top four, having led the standings for most of the season. However, if they were to slip up and both Juventus and Napoli were to win then it would mean a fifth-placed finish for the Rossoneri, something completely unforeseeable three months ago.
As reported by this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Pioli’s future does not seem in doubt despite the team’s struggles in 2021. The newspaper claims that Pioli has the esteem of the management, with director Paolo Maldini confirming it publicly. If Milan lose out on a Champions League place, they will miss out by one or two points and therefore Pioli’s position is not under question.
