Tuttosport: Shuttle service among options as Milan study transportation for new stadium

AC Milan have decided the location for their new stadium, namely the San Francesco area, after buying the Sportcitylife project. In fact, work has already begun on infrastructure and transportation.

The purchase of the project for the area is a huge step forward for Milan, who have decided to focus on the area after getting good feedback from the San Donato council. Before presenting their final project, though, they are evaluating the infrastructure.

The San Francesco area is surrounded by motorways and is thus easily accessible by car, and there is also a train station on one side of the area. As reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan are currently investigating the transportation side of things.

New roads will have to be created for those travelling on the motorway, as there is currently no easy way to access the stadium site. At the very least, the current roads are not developed enough to handle such a huge influx of people.

Furthermore, the metro of San Donato is not located right by the area, only the train station. Therefore, a shuttle service will have to be set up between the metro and the stadium site, which Milan are expected to include in their final project.

In short, the whole area needs to be significantly improved to handle a project of this size. Milan want to make sure that their project is airtight before presenting it to the council, so to avoid the minor complaints.
