Tuttosport: The latest on Kjaer’s injury and the game in which he could return

By Oliver Fisher -

Although Ismael Bennacer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are close to returning to the pitch, Simon Kjaer will need to wait a bit longer yet.

As Tuttosport reports (via MilanLive), Kjaer suffered an injury to his right thigh against Celtic last Thursday and was forced off in the early stages. Either today or tomorrow the Denmark international will undergo new tests to understand what point the recovery process is at.

One thing is certain though in the eyes of the paper: Kjaer will certainly not be called up for the game against Parma on Sunday nor against Genoa next Wednesday. An optimistic forecast is to see him available for the away match against Sassuolo on 20 December, otherwise he will return for the last match of 2020 on 23 December against Lazio at San Siro.

Stefano Pioli has great faith in Matteo Gabbia as Alessio Romagnoli’s partner, as the 21-year-old has done well so far and has shown that he can more than capably fill the role left by Kjaer’s absence.

In case a crisis were to arise, Pioli can also call upon Leo Duarte and Mateo Musacchio, giving further alternatives in defence.
