Tuttosport: Tonali set for another chance vs. Celtic but further tactical adaptation is needed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali is still working to get up to speed with Stefano Pioli’s game system, according to a report.

According to Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Tonali – after starting against Lille and Fiorentina – should also start in tomorrow’s match against Celtic in the Europa League, a big game in terms of securing qualification for the knockout stages.

Ismael Bennacer has recovered from adductor discomfort, but the Algerian will most likely start from the first minute against Sampdoria, thus giving another chance to Tonali tomorrow.

The former Brescia star has shown signs of growth, but the paper claims that there is a problem from a tactical point of view. The Italy international became used to playing in front of the defence in a three-man midfield, which allowed him to better express his qualities.

At Milan on the other hand he is part of a double pivot in a 4-2-3-1, so Tonali is working to become more incisive in this formation.
