Tuttosport: Vergine identifies coach to take over from Abate for Milan Primavera

One of the things that the AC Milan leadership must address during the summer is finding the right man to come in and take over as head coach of the Primavera.

When the three whistles blew to signify the end of the 2023-24 season for Milan’s youth team, many did not know that it would also signify the premature conclusion of Ignazio Abate’s time with the club.

At the end of the game, Abate officially announced that he is leaving the Rossoneri during an interview with Sportitalia, stating: This was my last match as Milan coach, I feel ready for professional football.”

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the head of the AC Milan youth sector Vincenzo Vergine has evaluated various profiles to take over from Abate as the new leader of the Primavera and the man in pole position is Federico Guidi.

He is the current coach of Roma Primavera, who were beaten on Friday in the Scudetto final against Sassuolo by a scoreline of 3-0. They had finished second in the table behind Inter with 19 wins in 34 games, but were unable to lift the trophy.

After the match against the Neroverdi, Guidi spoke like this about his future: “My future? I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with the club yet, we will do so in the next few days and we will see where I will be next year”.

Vergine knows him very well as the two have already worked together both in the youth sector of Fiorentina and that of Roma. After poaching Vergine from Roma, Milan could do the same again.
