Tuttosport: The ‘most viable path’ for Daniel Maldini and Milan’s asking price

By Oliver Fisher -

Daniel Maldini will be present at Milanello for the first day of AC Milan’s preseason but the management are willing to evaluate a permanent sale, according to a report.

Maldini was initially loaned to Empoli for the first half of the season but he found himself down the pecking order so the decision was then taken to send him to Monza, where he played more and scored four goals in the second half of the season.

Adriano Galliani is believe to be keen on a permanent deal for the playmaker, while there are doubts about the role that he would have with the Rossoneri next season if he were to return and stay given the amount of players currently in the attacking department.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Milan are not convinced enough by the 22-year-old to guarantee him a spot in the squad for next season and in fact if anything they are ready to consider a permanent exit.

However, an offer of at least €8m must arrive for Geoffrey Moncada and his collaborators to consider letting Maldini leave, bonuses included. The paper states that the ‘most viable path’ at the moment seems to be Lazio.

  1. Not that I think he’s a remarkable talent. But he has skills that we don’t have (creativity and free kicks etc.) and it’s shameful to let a Maldini be sold without being given a true shot. Then again it’s what I expect from this management. Eliminate all milanisti from the team.

  2. The fact that no-one buy him despite low asking price (8m) says all about the quality of Maldini, I think.

He is young, Italian. Comes off decent season on loan. If he is as good as many think then surely many teams will be interested in him and have no problem paying 8m.

    1. He has quality. Watched him in Monza and he was superb.

Instead of keeping him cause Milan needs to meet quota for italian players selling him for couple of milions of profit is really stupid thing to do.

  3. We’re already shortage of home grown players as it is. If we can’t keep him, I do hope the management will do smart thing thing such as inserting a buy back clause. We have lost many academy talents. Time to do something about it.

  4. Calafiore was sold for 4m last summer and now he is worth more than 35m in one year. Daniel has the potential to be a great player and can play RW, LW, AM, and ST. He’s home grown player so he won’t take anyone space and gets paid in peanuts. It’s shameful that we don’t care about Italian player anymore, while inter has 6 players in the national team. We are becoming the Inter of 2000s with all foreign players. I guess Cardinale and Furlani are allergic to the name Maldini
