Tuttosport: What Theo Hernandez expects from Milan in order to renew

Theo Hernandez’s words while away with the French national team have caused a bit of worry, and some expectations have emerged regarding his renewal.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) recall this morning, Theo did a press conference ahead of France’s first game against Austria and he was asked about his future at club level, to which he gave a response that will not exactly reassure Milan fans.

“I’m 100% focused on the European Championship. We’ll see later whether or not I’ll stay at Milan,” he said. For some time now, the Frenchman’s agents been in negotiations with the Rossoneri for the renewal, but for the moment the agreement between the parties has not yet been reached.

The paper claims that Theo currently earns €5m net per season when including bonuses and he has a contract that expires in 2026. In order to commit his long-term future to the club and extend that deal, the left-back expects an increase in salary.

Not only that, but Tuttosport suggest that the former Real Madrid man is looking for a pay rise that puts him on par with Rafael Leao’s salary, therefore around €7-8m net per year again with bonuses included.

Whether or not the Milan management give in to those demands remains to be seen, but with interest continuing to mount from abroad it feels as though a crossroads could arrive this summer.

  1. I don’t blame him one bit if he’s hesitant or refuses to renew. There’s no evident vision and no strategy when it comes to strengthening the squad with quality players. There is a lack of transparency too. Names are thrown around and then the club ends up with a bag of good and very bad signings.

  2. Not gonna lie. Was watching Ragnick’s Austria against France and they were mighty impressive in their pressing and play. I could see why management was thinking of bringing him in lol 😅😂😂😂 with all due respect ofc.
Austria, if they play like this, can go far in the tourney. Most other teams would find it difficult to get a point from them.

  3. and this same management is telling you Fonseca is better for milan with his pressing and playing style that Ralf. Yet some fans fail to notice what the management had seen months ahead of them.

  4. There’s conversations to be had and knots to untangle (i sometimes can’t understand the cockiness of these current crop of players) A bit of diplomacy would go a long way. Unless he is 100% certain that he wants out, in which case Milan must just cash in and do the best with the funds available. Life must and will go on.

  5. Super Repetitive at this point. Just wait until after EURO’s to figure out what the plan is.

Every day there will be a Theo article now. Every “expert” will have an input.

  6. It’s simple:

If 8 millions is what he looks after, then it should not be a problem since Milan are financially most sound club in Serie A and it will be on the ownership if it doesn’t happen. I will throw the fact that Inter gave Lautaro 9 millions + bonuses, under the nose for as long as RedBird are here.

    Or

If he has unreal demands because he wants to force a sale, then ship him out. It’s on him and I won’t cry over him.
