TMW: Napoli make bid to rival Milan for Torino’s Buongiorno

By Euan Burns -

Napoli are trying to scupper AC Milan’s deal for Alessandro Buongiorno by launching a bid of their own, but Torino have already rejected it.

As has been reported by Tuttomercatoweb (via Milan News), Napoli are also keen to add a new defender to their ranks as their summer business has not seen them properly replace Kim Min-jae. They signed Brazilian defender Natan, but he has had limited involvement.

To improve their situation, they have made a bid for Buongiorno, who Milan have been heavily linked with and rate expected to make a bid of their own for in the coming days.

The bid from Napoli gives Milan an idea of the figures Torino want for Buongiorno. The Partenopei put €25m on the table, and they also included Norwegian defender Leo Ostigard in the bid.

Torino president Urbano Cairo declined the offer, as he would like to receive at least €35m for the Italian.

It seems unlikely that Napoli will increase their offer and they are already looking at other targets. Anel Ahmedhodzic at Sheffield United and Arthur Theate at Stade Rennais are potential alternatives.

Milan will continue formulating a bid of their own for Buongiorno, which is expected to include Lorenzo Colombo.
