TyC Sports: Milan in negotiations with Club Atletico Platense over centre-back

AC Milan are negotiating with Club Atletico Platense over the potential signing of defender Marco Pellegrino, according to reports.

According to journalist César Luis Merlo of TyC Sports among other outlets, the Milan management are currently in talks with the Argentine club Platense over the possible arrival of the 21-year-old Pellegrino.

The talks are being carried out by the president Platense, Sebastián Ordoñez, who could travel to Italy in the next few hours to try to close the operation.

Pellegrino is a centre-back who can play either on the right or the left side and he has made 17 appearances this season so far for the Liga Profesional side, while he can also play as a defensive midfielder if needed.

Milan are in the market for a new defender given that Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw are only backed up by Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer at the moment, the former also functioning as a right-back and the latter having doubts over his condition.

    1. Even with all the bang average players we’ve had in the last ten years, I don’t think we’ve ever, ever had a regular starter as bad as Roque Junior was.

I remember sitting just watching him off the ball sometimes and thinking “do you even know what’s happening?” 🤣

I hope he’s enjoying whatever he’s doing now.

      1. No one will ever accuse Roque of being a very good defender but he is still a Milan legend for continuing to play in the extra time of the UCL final vs Juventus even though he could barely run because of injury.
Everything else is forgotten after that

        1. He has his place in our, and indeed in footballs history for sure (dude has a wc medal!), but ‘not very good’ is generous, he was f**king dreadful.

I’m wrong though, Kevin Constant was worse.

        2. I don’t know about him being a legend Z.
I mean he did nothing except aggravate Gattuso to the point he wanted to kill him!

  1. All these new young unproven players…all of them won’t be successful. Not sure I get this signing other than he’s left footed. Personally I still would have signed Singo for RB and left Kalulu at CB. But I guess Lord Pioli didn’t want Singo and didn’t feel he could develop him into a RB in a back 4 like we did with Theo. Too bad as I think it was a good opportunity missed at the price

    1. depends tbh, I mean Thiaw wasn’t exactly the most proven in a relegation shalke, as long as they see talent in him I hope they’re correct as we don’t want them buying players just for the sake of buying

    2. Also in terms of singo, it seems Pioli wants an inverted RB especially on the right side who will move centrally to give more passing options rather than an overlap fullback. Still not sure why he believes singo can’t play as an inverted fullback but he’s the coach I guess

      1. Theo is the inverted wingback, on the right pioli prefers a more defensive fullback to sit deeper to allow Theo freedom to go forward and dart through the center, that’s why we aren’t signing singo and why Alexis won’t play there and why he prefers kalulu/Calabria
