UK Bahrain Embassy announce Investcorp are in talks over $1.1bn Milan takeover

By Oliver Fisher -

The talks between Investcorp and Elliott Management regarding the takeover of AC Milan may have just been confirmed via a semi-official source.

There has been an abundance of speculation about the potential that the Bahrain-based fund will complete the acquisition of the Rossoneri from the American hedge fund in the coming weeks, with reliable sources such as Reuters and Bloomberg relaying the information.

Now, the Bahrain Embassy in the UK have tweeted the following: “Bahrain based asset manager Investcorp has entered in exclusive talks to buy Italian Serie A club AC Milan for $1.1 billion.

“Investcorp was founded in 1982, offers a diverse and truly global investment portfolio and manages over $42 billion in assets across the globe.”

Of course it may be that the account functions mainly as a relayed of news, but they may also be essentially confirming that the talks are on, as is their duty to inform Bahraini residents of the United Kingdom.

MilanNews reported this morning that talks started around a month ago and that Investcorp signed an exclusivity contract that will expire at the end of the month. The due diligence is yielding positive results, and that Investcorp are ‘getting the key to a Lamborghini’.
