AC Milan are expecting to have a busy January transfer window with at least two signings planned, it is claimed, and then attentions will turn to a renewal.
According to what Antonio Vitiello has written in his column for MilanNews, a central defender and a striker are the priorities of the Milan management in view of the winter transfer window, which opens in just over a month now.
A new centre-back is needed more for numerical reasons given Pierre Kalulu’s lengthy absence and Marco Pellegrino also being out, while a striker is wanted more because the ‘desire is to improve a department that can only count on goals from Olivier Giroud’.
Many names are being mentioned in the media, but the management ‘have not yet made a decision’ on which player to target for each position. Instead, they are in an ‘evaluation phase’, also based on the opportunities that might emerge and the spending capacity they have.
For example, getting out of the Champions League group stage into the knockout round will have a great influence on the amount available because of the revenues it would guarantee.
The mission for the winter is this: sign a central defender and a striker, then Giroud’s renewal will also be addressed.
