GdS: CSKA Moscow trequartista wants Milan move but two hurdles exist

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan retain an interest in signing Nikola Vlasic from CSKA Moscow but face competition for his signature, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via NotizieMilan), competition is growing for Nikola Vlasic, a player who occupies the top positions on Milan’s wish list of players who could come in and replace Hakan Calhanoglu as the starting attacking midfielder.

The paper writes that the 23-year-old playmaker would be more than happy to join the Rossoneri this summer, to the extent that he is pushing for the move having been left out of CSKA’s first game of the season.

There is strong competition from Zenit St. Petersburg to overcome though before his dream can become a reality, and the Moscow club must be persuaded to let him leave on favourable terms. Of course, they would rather avoid selling the player to a direct rival if at all possible.

  1. The biggest hurdle is that they want to pay the other clubs peanuts for their players. I’m not even sure it’s about not having the money. To be honest, it seems like the strategy is to make offers worth like 30% of the asking price, no matter how much they’re asking; 30 million, 15 million, 500k, it doesn’t matter, and obviously, that’s not going to cut it with most clubs.
