Vranckx feels ‘honour’ to have started vs. Arsenal but believes Milan ‘deserved more’

By Oliver Fisher -

Midfielder Aster Vranckx believes that AC Milan deserved more than they ended up getting from their 2-1 friendly defeat against Arsenal this afternoon.

Milan took to the field with what can be described as an experimental line-up of sorts given the absentees due to injuries and international participation, with Pobega starting at left-back, Vranckx in the double pivot and Adli as the playmaker.

In the end Arsenal’s two first half goals – the first a free-kick from Odegaard and the second a deflected shot from Nelson – would be enough to earn three points in the Dubai Super Cup, while they then won the penalty shootout to earn a bonus point too.

At the end of Milan’s friendly loss in Dubai, Vranckx spoke to the microphones of Milan TV and expressed his feelings about his performance and that of the team, with MilanNews relaying his comments.

On his performance: “I’m happy to have played and to have got some minutes in my legs, it was a great honour. Now I just have to concentrate to play more and win matches like these because I think we deserved more today. We just have to concentrate on the next match.”

On the training camp so far: “We’re back from the break and we’re working to get back to our previous level. We’re working day after day to get back to the top.”

On the game: “Arsenal are doing well in their league and we are doing well in ours. We have to take every game seriously to try and win every single match.”
