Kyle Walker believes that AC Milan were controlling the second leg against Feyenoord right up until the referee decided to send off Theo Hernandez.
Milan could not have hoped for a better start than the one they made, as Santiago Gimenez scored against his former club after less than a minute. From a short corner a deep cross was headed back across goal by Malick Thiaw, giving the Mexican a tap-in from close range.
Everything changed in the 52nd minute when the referee Marciniak made a huge call, sending Theo Hernandez off for a second yellow card having adjudged the full-back to have simulated inside the box when trying to run onto a loose ball.
With just over 15 minutes left, Feyenoord equalised on the night and re-took the lead on aggregate through the substitute Carranza. A pinpoint cross from the right by Bueno found the striker who headed in, and that would be enough to get them through.
Walker spoke to Sky after the full-time whistle to give his thoughts on what is without doubt a disastrous night in what has been a difficult season, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
It must be a difficult moment…
“The way we were controlling the game, we were the only ones on the pitch, then the referee made his decision: I didn’t see the incident, I can’t say if it was right or wrong.”
What happened with Theo?
“He was sent off, I don’t know if he simulated or not: the referee told me that he simulated 100%. I haven’t seen it back on TV yet.”
La única culpa es de THEO!!!! ( más MIKE, MUSAH Y GABBIA) MILAN SE ELIMINÓ A SI MISMO… INCREÍBLE!!!
Milan management should allow theo hernandez to go. He has been misbehaving of late. He deliberately and stupidly received two yellow cards he shouldn’t have had. He should go, if he’s thinking he is bigger than Milan.
Marciniak is an oldschool hardass who allows physical play and hate divers. Hes one of the most famous referees in the world. Knowing this and still do an more then obvious dive on a second yellow in a game refereed by Marciniak is beyond braindead.
Theo should be benched for the rest of the season then sold in the summer together with Leao. Cash in before the whole world knows what frauds they are
😀 He apparently is an oldschool hardass as you put it because during the match the Danish commentators also said that he trained Muay Thai in his sparetime.
Won’t be surprised if the management cash in on him at the end of the season. They may recover some lost earnings. Very stupid player. Even when he had the captain’s armband, it didn’t stop him from misbehaving. At last, he is getting the result for all his bad behaviour on the pitch. This time, it cost us at the highest stage.
Hernandez is incredibly stupid and has shown it time and time again. He is a child, and doesn’t respect anyone. The only person who he respected was Maldini who recruited him and babysitted him in every second training session, with extra effort so that this pink-haired guy can show what he can do. An obvious mistake being at the club, knowing the processes and intricacies in the dressing room and not selling him on time.
They must sell him during the summer, there is no other way forward, Hernandez is done at Milan after this game. Someone from the EPL has to be willing to pay 20 million which is OK for 1 year until contract expires. If he refuses, bench him whole season and he won’t play the World Cup.
Can’t blame the ref when the ref git Right. Gotta tell it like it is – Milan dominated until Theo made HIS decision.
Hernandez is the worst left back in the history of Milan. He should be benched for the rest of the season.
I think the ref made the wrong decision, a dive is where you deliberately fall(though it looked like Theo did) but then appeal for a foul/penalty. I am not sure thatt Milan players appealed it
Theo did this a lot if people not blind and bias you can actually see how he often he did this antic of him, easily falling and dive crying like a baby begging for fouls etc.
He costed us a lot on Tuesday we are out of UCL because of his stupid mistake otherwise we were controlling the game until he made that stupid action trying to buy refree. Surely the second
goal would have come and possibly the third one .
